Our involvement is in the settlement of commercial disputes by Alternative
Dispute Resolution (ADR) rather than by parties having to resort to
law. The two major means are Arbitration (a legally binding process)
and Mediation (a consensual approach). Adjudication is an increasingly
used third option.
Peter Brown is a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of The Chartered
Institute of Arbitration (FCIArb), He is listed and approved as a
Tutor of the Chartered Institute which is a worldwide organisation
based in London. Formed in 1915, it now has a total membership of
approximately 11,000 with branches in more than 90 countries.
He was a member of the Council of that body from 1998 to 2004, and
subsequently a member of the Board of Management. The Chartered
Institute of Arbitrators promotes and facilitates the resolution of
disputes by arbitration and ADR for a wide variety of business and
commercial sectors. These include communications, media, technology,
financial services and insurance, sport, medicine, health,
commodities, construction, shipping, engineering and the automotive
industry. [www.arbitrators.org]
