After an initial business management training with UNILEVER, and
subsequent positions in the grains, malting and brewing industries,
Peter Brown formed PETER BROWN ASSOCIATES in 1985 in order to offer
Dispute Resolution and independent, unaligned referral and consultancy
services, initially to the UK and international grains sectors.
Those services now extend throughout the grains and oilseeds sectors
and to Sports Disputes and National and Local Government.
He was granted Fellowship of THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF ARBITRATORS
in 1993, with Chartered Arbitrator status being achieved later,
followed by qualification as a MEDIATOR (trained by adr Group) in
1998
A constant portfolio of arbitration and mediation appointments have
included acting as a sole arbitrator, member and chairman of
tribunals, and member and chairman of Boards of Appeal, under the
rules of many trade associations and other arbitral institutions.
In 2003 Peter Brown became a director of the
International Commodity & Shipping
Arbitration Service (ICSAS), which had been formed to offer a means
of dispute resolution to individuals and businesses dealing in
commodities of many types, who either did not have access to
resolution of contractual problems by arbitration or who wished to
use an alternative scheme.
In 2008 Peter Brown was accredited to the Panel of Arbitrators of CIETAC – China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.
Peter Brown is qualified as a SPORTS DISPUTES ARBITRATOR AND MEDIATOR,
and is registered by The UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural
Affairs (DEFRA) as a CLIMATE CHANGE ADJUDICATOR.
